Writing Journey

Left in the Stars

Writing this novel was a very long, strenuous journey. I almost can't believe it's finally complete. I've always been a sci-fi fan, and I got the idea one night while looking up at the stars and wondering what kinds of adventures could be taking place in space.

I faithfully studied the craft of writing, wrote draft after draft, threw out perhaps a hundred pages or more, and had it professionally edited four different times.

I did not use AI to generate my pages. I'm particular about doing my own work, and would not hand this idea off to AI. Below you'll find screenshots of my writing journey. A major thanks to my editors. Without their help (and without them saying that they enjoyed my book!) I would not be publishing this novel.

And a special thanks to God and my family for supporting me and this project!

Take a look at my editing process if you wish.

Edits from November 2024

Here are some pictures of an edit that I received from one of my professional editors back in November of 2024. This was my third professional edit, and they are unglamorous. The writing process is messy, and it can take many years to get very good at the craft.

Edits from June 2026

This was my fourth edit and proofread. It was done by a different editor than last time, and there were far fewer edits needed--thank goodness.
